Restorative Yoga is a healing form of Hatha yoga where gentle postures are practiced lying down while the body is comfortably supported with bolsters and blankets.
Join Fela Adebiyi as he leads you through a beautiful afternoon elixir, enjoy a practice that strengthens the immune system, calms the nervous system, invigorates and refreshes a tired mind and body and enhances relaxation and wellbeing.
Restorative Yoga Sequence:
The restorative sequence is fantastic if you're overly hyped up and want to calm down, or if you're tired, drained.
The idea with Restorative Yoga is to be as completely comfortable and relaxed as possible. It takes time for the nervous system to calm down, so the postures are held for a longer period, typically 5 minutes or more. We make ample use of the ‘props’ available, including blankets, bolsters, eye bags, blocks, sandbags, etc. – whatever we can find that helps us to be comfortable and supported in the postures. Rather than going for maximum stretch, we are exploring deep, sustained, nurturing relaxation.
